Digital Imaging

Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs. With digital imaging, exposure time is about 50 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. The Kodak RVG Digital Radiography System allows us to store patient images, and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies. Digital x-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. Digital X-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral Camera

The Carestream Intraoral Camera is a very small camera that allows us to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard examinations. Intraoral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments.

Cavity Detection System

The CariVu is a compact and portable device used to detect cavities that takes advantage of trans-illumination technology to identify lesions, cracks, and fillings. The CariVu detection system uses infrared trans-illumination in order to see through a tooth, highlighting conditions that can’t be easily detected by other cavity detection technologies on the market. Images captured with this technology are similar in appearance to X-ray images, and they are read in the same way. Lesions will appear as darkened area, and when compared to fluorescent imaging, this technique is much simpler to use. This new technology provides an alternative to traditional imaging without the radiation exposure, while offering better detection of certain forms of decay that traditional X-rays cannot provide.

Laser Dentistry

Laser Dentistry

The SOL Laser unit is a diode laser used for dental soft tissue surgery and debridement. Advantages of laser dentistry over conventional dental tools include decreased pain and sensitivity, better accuracy and precision, reduced trauma, fewer dental visits, and versatility. Diode lasers perform a wide range of procedures with greater patient comfort, faster healing times and often without the need for local anesthetic. Unlike conventional treatments, which require cutting and sutures, the soft tissue laser allows for effective treatment without any incisions. This unique tool uses a micro-pulsed diode laser, which creates minimal stress on the gums and reduces both procedural and post-operative discomfort. The soft tissue laser simultaneously treats soft tissue and seals blood vessels and nerve endings, minimizing any swelling or bleeding, and drastically reducing recovery time. Indications for use include laser troughing, gingivectomies, implant recovery, frenectomy, operculectomy, hyperplasia, incision and drain, and pulpotomy.

Isolation System

Our practice utilizes Isolite, an illuminated dental isolation system that gives clear, bright and adjustable LED illumination from within the mouth. This improves Dr. Vaghari’s view of the mouth and shines less light in the patient’s eyes. Isolites are the only dental isolation system that delivers illumination, suction and retraction all in one compact system that makes isolation easy and provides uninterrupted access to the working site. Complete oral control allows Dr. Vaghari to maximize the efficacy of dental materials in order to deliver high quality dental treatment.
When used in conjunction with their patented Isolite Mouthpiece, the patient’s cheek and tongue are automatically retracted and protected, resulting in an immediate decrease in the risk of patient injury by minimizing the chance of debris aspiration. This makes the patient more comfortable and provides the additional benefit of being able to monitor the patient’s airway. The Mouthpiece’s construction provides an extra layer of protection from dental instruments and controls the patient’s tongue. And because the Mouthpiece is single-use, patient cross-contamination is eliminated.

Digital Impression

Digital Impression

The iTero Element Scanner digitally captures the structure of the patient’s teeth and gums and wirelessly sends it to the lab for crowns, implants, sleep/snoring appliances, and Invisalign. The wand uses a laser to scan and record images of your mouth while the computer uses an algorithm to generate the 3D model. The digital models are much more precise than conventional impressions since images are obtained passively and movement does not distort the impression. This new technology completely eliminates the tray and putty impressions, which means no more gagging or discomfort for patients, while offering far more superior results.
